Amirabdollahian was speaking in Nicaragua on Wednesday, the third day of the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s five-day tour of three Latin American countries that will later take him to Cuba.
Raisi began his tour in Venezuela where Iranian and Venezuelan officials signed documents aimed at expanding bilateral relations.
Amirabdollahian, who is part of the delegation accompanying Raisi, said that 26 documents were signed that focus on economic, trade as well as scientific and technological issues.
The top diplomat said that the administration of President Raisi favors a balanced foreign policy which prioritizes economic diplomacy.
In that line, Amirabdollahian noted, Iranian and Venezuelan officials held negotiations on different issues.
He added that Venezuela serves as a gate for Iran’s trade activities in Latin America while ‘friendly countries’ in that region can gain access to West Asia markets through the Islamic Republic.
